Audio sample (Shadowed Loyalty)!

Guess what came in this week! (Assuming you read the title of the post, that’s a “duh” question, right? LOL) The audio sample for Shadowed Loyalty!

Which was honestly quite a surprise, because I just got them the final file on Monday. They must have had narrators queued up and waiting to audition, because I received their pick on Thursday.

And I’m happy to report that I find her delightful. 😉 Feel free to listen!

One note: she misreads the heroine’s name, LOL. Easy to do! She reads it as “Sabrina,” with an R, but it’s the rhyming “Sabina,” with no R, in actuality. Just so you know. I made sure they knew to make her aware of that before she records the whole thing, ha ha.

Getting so excited for this release!

Hello, my ladies!

Where did this week go?? (Oh, right. It went into insulin pump classes and Zoom author panels with Baker Book House, and church, and then prepping for my son’s birthday!) Hope yours was a good one!

Above is my video update for the week, but as always, here’s the nutshell. I’ve been reading through Yesterday’s Tides in preparation for turning it in next week, doing a lot of baking for the above-mentioned birthday (how is he 14??), and trying to catch up on some design projects too.

We’ve also been considering hosting a retreat and wanted to bring it up with you guys first. =) My hubby and I would run this together (so your spouses are welcome too!), and we have a couple different options for theme. Ideally, this is something we’d do at least a couple times a year, so if you’d be interested at all, please fill out the form! You can find it on the Welcome page (at the bottom) or here.

Hello, my ladies!

Well, it was quite a week! I finished the first draft of Yesterday’s Tides (YAY!!), which took up all of Monday and Tuesday–and finished it literally just in time to tab over to a Zoom Q&A that I was hosting for writers, LOL.

Wednesday I spent trying to catch up on the tasks that had piled up, and then Thursday I had to spend the whole day reading (shucks, right?) so I could write a column of book reviews for the April edition of Christianity Today. Fun! I haven’t spent a whole day reading in…I don’t know how long. Years, probably. But I quite enjoyed my day with Toni Shiloh’s In Search of a Prince, gotta say. =)

I also spent some time this week creating some resources and tools for us on the Groups.io page, including a calendar for our birthdays and also a database for adding your addresses, if you’re comfortable doing so, so members can send each other cards or what have you. =) Totally voluntary, of course! I’ve linked to those where I mentioned them here. This did require upgrading the group, which means there are lots of new features available, which I’ll explore. =)

I had a rather mean note from a reader this week, which threw me off a bit on Tuesday morning, though I do get a weird satisfaction out of figuring out how to compose a super gracious response. 😉

Oh, and I got the samples in for our P&P tote bags! One of them has a really wide bottom, which I’m loving, so that’ll probably be my pick. I was going to give you color choices in case you don’t like purple, but, um, that’s the only color in stock, so… hope you like purple! 😉

Hello, my ladies!

I’m not bothering to embed the video for this week because all you’ll see is a very bleary-eyed me saying this:

I wrote 52,000 words this week! For those of you not up on the word counts of books, that’s about half a standard historical novel, LOL. It brings my total word count up to about 96,000 words. I have 8 scenes remaining, which will hopefully be fast-moving, shorter scenes (because I cannot let this thing stretch to 130,000 words or there will be lots of trimming in my future!).

I quite literally did nothing else all week, so there’s nothing else to report. 😉 Next week my goal is to finish up!

Please feel free to check in, either via email or Marco Polo, to tell us how your week has gone, share your prayer requests, and let us know what next week holds!

Audio sample (Jewel of Persia)!

Exciting news! So a couple months ago, I signed a contract with Tantor Audio to produce my biblical fiction (A Stray Drop of Blood, A Soft Breath of Wind, and Jewel of Persia) as audio books. Yay!

Well, they’re doing the casting now! I thought it would be fun to share with you guys the narrators as we select them. (By “select,” I mean that they send me their choice and I can veto it or approve it, LOL.)

So this is the narrator for Jewel of Persia. They sent me another one first that I didn’t care for (personal preference, you know), but then they sent their second choice, Kim Bretton. I love how bright and cheerful she sounds–very appropriate for Kasia!

What do you think?

Hi, guys! Here’s my video update from Friday, January 21, 2022.

In case you don’t have time to watch, here’s the gist. =)

Writing this week has proven difficult . . . I got about 7,000 words written, but that’s just enough to cut it with a 2/15 deadline, so next week will have to be At Home Writing Retreat time. I’ll be going over to our office every day and doing NOTHING BUT WRITING, with a goal of 10K words every day.

I did at least get some design work done, and I also got the Groups.io email list set up for this group, so yay on that. =) It’s been great getting to know everyone!
