Call for Submissions (WhiteFire Publishing)

Call for Submissions (WhiteFire Publishing)

I’m coming at you today in my role as editor for WhiteFire Publishing with a fun announcement! WFP is planning to launch its young reader line, and we need submissions! We’re currently seeking:
  • Children’s Picture Books (text or with illustrations)
  • Illustrators
  • Middle grade fiction (both lower and upper)
  • Young Adult novels (all genres)
WhiteFire is a small, traditional Christian publisher whose motto is “Where Spirit Meets the Page.” We love books with a strong hook, engaging characters, and where the light of the Lord comes shining through. Faith themes don’t necessarily have to be overt, but all our books must uphold our beliefs.
If you have a story you’d like to submit, please send the following to r.white@whitefire-publishing.com:
A cover letter that includes your contact info, book title, genre,
and word count. PLUS a proposal (Word doc attachment) that includes:

  • A 1-sentence hook
  • A 1-3 paragraph blurb
  • Status of manuscript (completed? completed by?)
  • Series info, if applicable
  • Full bio, including sales history if any
  • Marketing/promotional overview (to whom the book is targeted and
    how you’ll appeal to them)
  • Comparable titles
  • A 2-3 page synopsis (for full length books. Shorter for shorter stories is fine!)
  • Sample. For a full length novel, this should be the first three
chapters. For a shorter book, 1-2 chapters. For a picture book, send the
    complete text.

If you’re an artist and would like to be on our roster of illustrators, please send the following to r.white@whitefire-publishing.com:

  • a sample of your work (however many you feel gives a good sampling of your range)
  • your rates, flexibility, and whether or not you’d consider working for royalties or only on a paid-upfront basis.
  • contact info

We’re creating a file of illustrators right now that we can reference as needed.

Check out our current titles at www.WhiteFire-Publishing.com. If you have any questions, feel free to email me with them at roseannamwhite@gmail.com or leave them in the comments below!

Call for Reviewers – WhiteFire Publishing

WhiteFire Publishing is launching a reviewer program! We’ll be welcoming new reviewers to the fold with a chance to receive some of our backlist, and then announcements of new books will go out to those who have signed up, to give them the chance to review new titles. There will be limited paperback copies available, and also digital files.

If you’re interested in joining the Bookster Reviewers, sign up now! (Please note: this is different from the Band of Booksters that I posted about yesterday. The Band of Booksters is just a chance for readers to offer their take on things like title selection, cover selection, etc.–no reviews are expected.)

Announcing the Band of Booksters

I’m super excited to announce a new program that WhiteFire Publishing is launching. My hubby and I have been chatting about this for a while, and I think it’ll be a great way to let readers have a say in the publication process. So if you’re a Super Reader — if you need books like you need air — if you’re a true Bookster, then we want to hear from you!

Stand By for Crazy Schedules

Stand By for Crazy Schedules

Hello, lovely readers!

I’d planned on getting back to my normal blogging schedule today, but then as I prepared my schedule for the week, I realized that such mundane goals might be a bit too lofty, LOL. I’m a few chapters away from finishing book 3 in the Shadows Over England Series, have edits on book 2 that are due next Monday, and am of course up to my eyeballs in release stuff for book 1, including multiple guest posts also due next Monday. Combine that with some WhiteFire editing, contest judging, and cover designing I need to get done, and I’m afraid my musings here must be pushed to the back burner.

How fortunate that there’s so much going on you can have fun with though. 😉

One of my friends from college is also a writer, and she did a really fun interview with me that takes a much different approach than the typical ones surrounding a book release. Check it out for an in-depth look at the intersection of faith, fiction, and academia. Thanks, Rhonda, for a super-fun conversation!

Audiobooks!

In the last week or two, I’ve had two audio books go live! Not only is A Name Unknown‘s audio book now available, so is the long-awaited one for The Reluctant Duchess, completing the Ladies of the Manor audio series.

And of course, don’t forget that I’m currently running the big giveaway in conjunction with the release of A Name Unknown! This may be my most awesome giveaway to date…at least if you’re a book lover. We’ve got book-themed everything! Book ends, mug, paper, typewriter pencil cup, necklace (coming all the way from Greece!), Library kit, Library card tote bag, throw pillow, cookies, and of course a signed book!

Release Day ~ A Name Unknown

Release Day ~ A Name Unknown

It’s my book’s birthday! Just wanted to pop onto the blog real quick to say
“Welcome to the world, A Name Unknown!”

She’s Out to Steal His Name.

Will He Steal Her Heart Instead?

Rosemary Gresham has no family beyond the band of former urchins that
helped her survive as a girl in the mean streets of London. Grown now,
they are no longer pickpockets–instead they focus on high-value items
and have learned how to
blend into upper-class society. Rosemary is beginning to questions
whether she can continue in this life when she’s offered the challenge
of a lifetime–determine whether
a certain wealthy gentleman is loyal to Britain or to Germany. After
all how does one steal a family’s
history, their very name?

As Europe moves ever closer to World War I, rumors swirl around Peter
Holstein. Awkward and solitary, but with access to the king, many fear
his influence. But Peter can’t help his German last name and wants to
prove his loyalty to the Crown–so he can go back to anonymously writing
a series of popular adventure novels. When Rosemary arrives on his
doorstep pretending to be a well-credentialed historian, peter believes
she’s the right person to help him dig through his family’s past.

When danger and suspicion continue to mount, both realize they’re in a
race against time to discover the truth–about Peter’s past and about
the undeniable attraction kindling between them.

The Reluctant Duchess Audio Book!

The Reluctant Duchess Audio Book!

After a very long wait, I’m thrilled to announce that The Reluctant Duchess is finally available in audio format!

http://amzn.to/2siC8yK

I’ve had SO MANY inquiries about this from fans who prefer audio books and were confused by the fact that books 1 and 3 of the Ladies of the Manor were available, but 2 wasn’t. Happy to report that my publisher prevailed, the long wait is over, and you can now hear Liz Pearce putting on a Scottish burr. 😉

Thus far I haven’t located it in any other retailers, but I’ll update the post if I find other listings. =)
