It’s August 14. That means that at 12:10 p.m., I will officially be a thirty-something instead of a twenty-something. Two years ago I was a bit shocked to realize I was “late twenties” instead of “mid-twenties.” So you can imagine my surprise at this one, LOL.
But after considerable consideration, I have decided that I’m not going to stay at 29. Nope. I’m 30, and I’m going to own it. I’m going to make it awesome.
I mean, 29 was pretty great. LFY Annapolis came out, I got to see Jewel of Persia and A Stray Drop of Blood appear and hold steady on the Amazon genre best-seller list. I sold my first trilogy, the Culper Ring Series, to Harvest House.
So how much better might 30 be? Ring of Secrets will be out this coming year, and Whispers from the Shadows too! My daughter will be going into second grade, and my little guy will be dipping his toes in the home school pool too. And to top it all off, 30 marks the year when I’ll have spent half my life loving my honey, who I started dating at 15.
So naturally, we must celebrate this tumbling into a new decade with chocolate.

Chocolate Orange Cream Cake – one of my favorite recipes =) |
And with these guys…
And with food that I’m not cooking. 😉 Oh! And we’re also celebrating a milestone of Facebook followers for WhiteFire, so there’ll be a giveaway today! If you haven’t entered yet for the winner’s choice of WhiteFire e-book, you better hop over there before I do the drawing!
So grab a slice of that delicious cake, a tall glass of iced coffee, and enjoy the day with me! Let’s live it up!
Happy Birthday Mrs. White! I think Mrs. Morrill is right–you have lots more book selling days ahead of you. And each of them will, of course, make the bestseller list everywhere until your next book comes out and replaces it. At least they should, anywway. (Same to you Mrs. Morrill, don't feel left out. :D)
By the by, did the cleaning elves stop by your house?
I read that the happiest age for people is 33. Because you feel old enough that you've accomplished stuff, but you still have lots of years ahead of you. So you still have a few more days until you peak 🙂
Happy birthday, dear friend!
Enjoy the cake–calorie free! 😉 And you're working hard, so you'll get there too. =)
Aw, thanks. =) And you're well on your way, Rachelle!
Thanks, Joanne! I think it's going to be a good decade. And yeah, the kids make it SO fun!
Happy birthday, I'll take some cake & give you those orange slices 🙂
I hope I have at least one book published by 30! we'll see
Congratulations, Roseanna! I hope I've accomplished some great things by 30, too. You are an inspiration! Have a great birthday!
I admire you for not holding on to your 20s. My 30s were definitely growing years – in the Lord, in my family size (both my kids were born when I was in my 30s), and in strength and endurance.
And little ones make birthdays SO special. Mine was wonderful cuz of my kiddos! Happy Birthday. It's gonna be a good decade. (and where do I get the recipe for that cake??? Hmm??
I like the way you think, Karlene. 😉 And you guys need to visit again sometime! Says the pot to the kettle…
Happy Birthday!!!!! Wish I lived closer to celebrate with you. But I hope your day is wonderful, even if the birthday elves didn't show up. And the 30s are going to be awesome. My guess? This will be the decade that you start selling books where your name is bigger than the title 🙂
Love it–drooling over the bookcases more than the cake, LOL. =) Thank you, and thank you!
Thanks, Normandie! Cake will actually be on Friday, and will be ice cream cake, but that doesn't make as nice a picture, LOL. But there will chocolate in my day's future for sure!
And my gorgeous daughter just brought me down a cinnamon roll with a candle in it. =) Yep, a good day for sure!
You have a lovely family, and I'm drooling over your bookcase!
Have a happy birthday!
Thirty is a wonderful year, Roseanna. I was thirty when my first baby, my gorgeous daughter, came into my life. (Some of us are late bloomers.) You've accomplished much in your few years, all preparation, I'm sure, for what is yet to come. Have a lovely, lovely celebration and enjoy that cake.
Thanks, Anne! That picture was from 2 years ago, so it's not nearly so organized now. More books but no more room = lots of stacks in front of the neat rows, LOL.
Happy 30th Roseanna! Love your library wall! :o)
Happy day to you! Thirties are nothing to be afraid of. 🙂
